Day Seventeen

The same river flows
Over mountains and plains
Over death and life soul is the same

Frómista to Carrión de los Condes

Today’s walking was tapasya in the cold, unending, biting wind.

The gravel path tracked parallel to a road the whole day. Traffic was light but we did have to wait for two tractors to cross the path into a field.

The cold head wind, overcast skies and long dirt track lent itself to practising walking meditation to keep the spirits up.
Walking certainly brings a greater appreciation of the landscape as it moves slowly past, step by step.

I was thinking of our friend Tony from the Blue Mountains who would be crossing the Pyrenees today from St Jean Pied De Port. Joining this river flowing over Spain.

Stopping only once for a break from the wind and a hot drink we covered the 20km to Carrion de los Condes in 4 1/2 hours. Here we will stop for the night in Monasterio San Zoilo which is the opposite of austere.
