Day Thirty

Chasing angels or fleeing demons, go to the mountains.

– Jeff Rasley

Ruitelan to Fonfria

Forests covered the foot of the mountain so it was pleasant start. The climb up was steep and the views fantastic. The fresh smells, the sounds and the feeling all told us we were in the mountains. We were really in the mountains!

Did I mention we were in the mountains ? We also officially  passed into Galicia.

Once we reach O Cebreiro we started crossing the top for a few hours. We took a break in a clearing in the forest, sitting on a log with the sun on our backs and enjoying artesian cheese and local honey on bread.

Walking  up and down, up and down and thinking “Oh my! Look at that” at each turn or crest. The mountains fill you with mountain energy as your eyes make your heart go “Wow!”

We stopped at Fonfría at a lovely Albergue and had an amazing vegetarian meal in the round house.

Today we walked over 24km up to 1270m. Tomorrow we walk down.
