It was road and then foot path all the way to Chantonnay today which was only 15km. We came across an English themed pub that was open and served a great cuppa. Cloud cover and a very light drizzle kept it cool so we made good time and checked in to the only room we could find.
Galette for lunch was good.
We are staying at a motel/pub. It lacks the usual French charm we’ve become accustomed to but it serves its purpose (€46).
The area we are passing through has a different vibe to Brittany which we both miss.
Today we decided to lighten our packs by sending our tent and sleeping bags (and some other stuff) off to my sister Mers. I hope it’s the right decision.
My pack went from 12.3kg to 9.7kg. Fi’s dropped 480g to 5.8kg. That’s not including water or food.
There seems to be more walking on asphalt along the Vendée stages so a lighter pack should ease the pain.
The way has been well marked and we have GPX files to follow if we’re not sure which way to turn.
