With only a few km to go we had a late breakfast and enjoyed the stroll to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. We came into the old town through the stone arch up the hill from the pilgrims office.
For the first time in 1400km I recognised a place I had been before. It was strange. I remembered it well for a town I had visited once 3 years ago.
It was a hive of activity along the street. We found our Gîte was not open until 3pm so we went for lunch and thanks to Happy Cow we found a great restaurant serving vegan and vegetarian options.
After a visit to the supermarket we got into the Gîte and discovered we have to vacate it between 8.30am and 3pm everyday (booked for 3 nights)! That’s not right.
After chatting with Julia on WhatsApp we decided to start over the mountain on Monday! The weather will be good.
Excited to see Julia and Sue tomorrow!
Le Gourmande restaurant is a great place to eat!
