We had to leave the Gîte by 8.30am so we had some breakfast and wondered the streets of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. We checked out the way for tomorrow, visited the outdoor equipment store, the Citadel and walked the old town walls.
We got a new credential (pilgrim passport) at the pilgrim office as our Australian ones are full now. Jan from Holland talked us through the route tomorrow and issued us with a map, stage profiles and accommodation list. We chatted for a while and discovered there are two peak times for pilgrims, April to June and September.
Relaxing with a cup of Earl Grey we watch a parade and went for lunch. Before we knew it we were allowed back in the Gîte!
I received a message from Julia that she had just landed and excitedly waited for her arrival.
Julia and Sue got their credentials from the pilgrims office and we’re ready to walk!
Roncesvalles is full tomorrow night so we will be walking to Espinal-Auzperri (33km). I’m glad it’s not peak season otherwise we’d have to walk to Santiago in one go 😀!
