The Spanish Chapter – Day 12 – Belorado to Villafranca Montes de Oca

A great breakfast was had at the pension then we set off along the steady climb to Villafranca Montes de Oca. The temperature climbed quicker than we did and soon we were sweating. But Villafranca came soon enough at only 12 km away.

It took us just over 3 hours to walk it. I forgot to stop my tracking app – that’s why it says 5 hours in the video.

We are staying at Albergue Peregrinos San Anton Abad. It’s a hotel and Albergue (€72).

We had two first courses off the pilgrim menu as they were the only vegetarian dishes they did. It’s a three star hotel in the 21st century, you’d think they could do better!

We added lentils out of a can to make it a more balanced meal (you know every vegetarian has a can of lentils with them 😆)

Absolutely lentils were my staple. I often had a jar or can of them on hand. But one of my favorite meals was when Fi invited me to join you all for dinner and she ( and you) prepared a wonderful dish of chickpeas and vegetables. Another Aussie maybe Name was Harry (even older than I) was included. Very nice memory.
    Buen Camino
