The Spanish Chapter – Day 20 – Calzadilla de la Cueza to Sahagun

We were walking before dawn and stopped for refreshments at every village we went through so the day soon past by along with the km’s. The landscape was gentle and we passed from Palencia into Castilla Y León and then the two statues just outside of Sahagun that marks the halfway point of the Camino Frances.

By the time we finished the temperature was in the 30’s.

The hostel is nice, we were offered copious amounts of cool water when we walked in. It’s €60 for a double with en-suite. We ate the pilgrims meal (two firsts) and had a rest.

Later we went to visit Santuario de la Virgen Peregrina and received our half way compostela from the restored church – worth a visit.

We ate pizza with Phil and Carol from Brisbane and Ray from Ireland who we have an uncanny way of bumping into.

Here is a pilgrim story …
