We set off up the mountain after a hearty breakfast and getting a wax seal stamp on our credentials. It was still dark and by the time the sun rose we were almost in Foncebadón. We had a cuppa and carried on up to the Cruz de Ferro. Here we laid down the burdens of life by placing a stone we had carried on our journey at the base of the cross. Now lighter we walked down the dusty and slippery shale path to El Acebo enjoying the spectacular views along the way.
We are staying at La Rosa Del Agua (€40) and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They made us feta and spinach crepe and salad when we arrived.
