The Spanish Chapter – Day 40 – O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostelle

We had an early start so we could catch up to Phil & Carol. We past Santiago airport before sunrise and saw the Monte Del Gozo statues. It was great to see Phil and Carol and walk with them into Santiago. A sunny day for walking into the city. We had dinner with friends we won’t see until next time. With mixed emotions on reaching Santiago we look forward to the peace of walking to Finisterre.

We are staying near the cathedral at Casa Celsa-Barbantes (€94).

We ate at Blu Cafe and had a nice vegan burger.

Later we met up with Camino friends for a farewell get together. The bitter sweet taste of Santiago settling in the pit of our stomachs as the journey for many is now over. We leave for the five day walk to Finisterre tomorrow.

Congratulations Fi & Mark on your epic Camino journey…. not yet over but fantastic effort! Are you still wearing the same pair of walking shoes? Your blogs and photos have been wonderful. Look forward to hearing more about it when you are next in the mountains xx
